Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Resiliency, Meaning of Life and Family ‎Functioning In Caregivers of Patients With Schizophrenia

Abstract:

Aims: The caring of schizophrenia patients is a boring for their families. The aim of present study was to consider the effectiveness acceptance and commitment therapy on resiliency, meaning in life  and family functioning in caregivers of patients with schizophrenia. Method: Research design was Quist -experimental in the form of pre-test, post-test and control group follow-up. The sample of this research was included 30 people from members of  schizophrenia patients families, referred to 2 the center of nerves and psyche rehabilitation in Isfahan. They were selected by  available sampling method. The experimental group received the treatment based on acceptance and commitment in eight sessions weekly, however the control group did not receive any treatment. Both group were assessed in three phases, with pre-test, post-test and one-month follow-up. The assessment devices were consisted of CD-RIS, MLQ, FAD. The data were analyzed by software SPSS21  and variance analysis statistical method with repetitive measurements. Results: The results of this study demonstrated that there is important difference between control group and experimental group in MLQ in every three tests.(p<0/05).Also there is difference between control group and experimental group in FAD in every three tests (p<0/05). Furthermore, the results of this investigation showed that there is important difference  between pre-test with post-test and pre-test with follow-up in CD-RIS, but there is no difference between post-test with follow-up (p>0/05). Conclusion: Based on the results in this investigation in regard to the effect of treatment interferences on acceptance and commitment in MLQ and family functioning and resiliency, this therapy can be used to improvement of this variables in caregivers of patients with schizophrenia.
